A Weekly Meme Hosted by Booking Through Thursday

It's time to answer Thursdays question again :)

1. In your opinion, what is the best translation of a book to a movie?
2. The worst?
3. Had you read the book before seeing the movie, and did that make a difference? (Personally, all other things being equal, I usually prefer whichever I was introduced to first.)

1. Hm. I don't know about the 'best', but I really like Sphere, Cujo. Ah, I know. Dolores Claiborne. I hated the book but the movie rocked.

2. The worst could be so many. Up there is The Stand. The movie, while watchable, was cheesy and over the top. Ugh and Phantoms by Dean Koontz, the movie just seemed terrible, hard to put my finger on why.

3. Sometimes. For Dolores movie first. For the Stand book first. For Sphere movie first. Cujo movie first. Phantoms, book first.

I'm strange - if I love a movie I'm reluctant at times to read the book. If I love a book, I can't wait to see the movie. ??

When I see the movie first the book is too familiar if not a lot was changed. So I generally read it long after watching the film.

When watching a movie and then reading the book, it's OK since the book always has things that were left out in the movie and would have more detail. Go figure.
