A Weekly Meme Hosted by Booking Through Thursday

Woohoo - my question used!

When growing up did your family share your love of books? If so, did one person get you into reading? And, do you have any family-oriented memories with books and reading? (Family trips to bookstore, reading the same book as a sibling or parent, etc.)

I wish I could have a hopefully optimistic answer since this is my question and all, but nope. My family hates to read. I secretly feel I'm an alien species. I have no idea where my love of writing or ready comes from. I've heard rumors of people in my favorite enjoying these pastimes, but I haven't met them personally.

My mother read two books I can remember, one self-help, and one when I was kid to check out what I was getting into *grins* It was Dawn by VC Andrews, God knows what impression she was left with, she never said anything about it. I've never seen my father read one book, ever. Not even the newspaper. The only thing he'll read are the gossip magazines. My brother never enjoyed reading much either, but does have some role playing books Ive never heard of. I'm trying to get my son into reading, but he's not latching on - groans. I guess I'll be the oddball that stands out.
