A Weekly Meme Hosted by Booking Through Thursday

This week's Book Through Thursday

Do you have “issues” with too much profanity or overly explicit (ahem) “romantic” scenes in books? Or do you take them in stride? Have issues like these ever caused you to close a book? Or do you go looking for more exactly like them? (grin)

I usually look for them, I'll admit it. Eroticism can fit the mood when it's that time. I've never closed a book because of any subject material. The only time I'll give up is if I lose the thing, get bored, or genuinely loathe it (even then I usually keep reading). Profanity doesn't bug me as long as it fits in with the characters, I don't see profanity as other people do (a sin, etc.) Romantic scenes done right can make or break say, a romance. As a big horror fiction reader I've seen countless bizarre and almost go to far scenes but I think I'm jaded enough to not have too much turn me off from a book besides the above listed and bad characterization.
