A Weekly Meme Hosted by Booking Through Thursday

In contrast to last week’s question–What do you think of censoring books BECAUSE of their intended age? Say, books too “old” for your kids to read?

I'll use common sense with this one - I wouldn't want my ten year old reading detailed sexual scenes in steamy romance novels, or books that gave them nightmares. However, I'm pretty lenient when it comes to censoring with books (and games, movies.) I wouldn't restrict them only to  young adult as every kid advances differently in reading level, and being forced to only read young adults which bore them may turn them off reading altogether. I read adult books as a child and don't think they disturbed me except for a small selection. Those I would not want my kid to read, but otherwise I enjoyed reading based on my level rather than my age.
