Bookish-World Places

I LOVE looking at library displays and creative ways librarians attempt to bring more youngsters and adults into the library. It's amazing how some of these safe havens for children and young adults create a unique space for them to unwind from their lives, lost in the world of books - but also inspired by their surroundings at the same time!

Look how stunning this is! An unforgettable, magical entrance into a children's room. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out which library this is, no matter how hard I've looked. If you know, please let me know so I can mention it.

This would be a great place to read - although I may end up getting distracted sometimes just staring around me. Lucky children!

How cool is this??

Perfect for Winnie The Pooh fans, and also the raccons with the book on the branch is a nice touch. A unique doorway into another world, isn't it?

It's from the Old Worthington Library

They quaintly called this "Bookingham Forest!"

Their website says this about it, be sure to check the link for further details:

Designed to evoke the enchanted forest found in so many nursery rhymes and children's picture books, Bookingham Forest features characters from such classic children's books as The House at Pooh Corner and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, to new favorites like Hunter's Best Friend. Just follow the paw-print path to see them all!

Bookish-World on the Web

This time of the year is especially exciting around the reading community. Halloween and Christmas are some of the more exciting months for bookish events with blogs, websites, and publishers.

I always like to keep abreast of what's happening over at Book Chick City. They do some fun monthly events. This time around they're doing their Smexmas 2012, which they list as fun Christmas posts. I'll certainly keep checking back.

Beauty is a Sleeping Cat and Postcards from Asia are hosting Dickens in Christmas event. I'm also taking part in this, looks fun! They're going to be hosting a read-a-long for A Christmas Carol, having folks choose a Dickens classic to read, and a film to watch. There will be discussion and giveaways.

The Harlequin Community will be having a week long Community Open House, for the week of December 10th to December 14th.

Starting Monday, December 10th, we’ll devote the conversations on our message boards and chat rooms to a different Harlequin Series and/or Genre each day, and readers who comment on the posts are automatically eligible for our giveaways until the party winds down on Friday, December 14 at 11:59ET.

This month's Where in the World are you reading? theme is Reading Escapes. I haven't put mine up  yet for this month!

Wicked Little Pixie will be hosting their very own "The 31 Wicked Days of Christmas" with giveaways, reviews, posts, and guest posts. Their banner for this one ROCKS and I had to share. Will be checking in to this fun, imaginative looking celebration often.

Stella at Book Lovers inc. is hosting the Holiday Reading Challenge 2012.

Challenge Rules:
1. The BLI Holiday Reading Challenge will start on November 14 and will end on December 31.
2. You can read as many holiday themed books for the challenge as you wish, pick your level:
Santa’s Helper: read 1-3 holiday themed books
Serial Mistletoe-er: read 4-6 holiday themed books
Candy Cane-aholic: read 7 or more holiday themed books – this is the level I’m aiming for! :-)

Michelle at The Christmas Spirit is hosting a 2012 Xmas Spirit Challenge.  There will be reading levels and also at the end of the giveaway, a box of Christmas books as a contest prize!
