I bought some books when shopping at the Dollar General store this week. One Hard Case Crime (Baby Moll), Angel souls and Devil hearts is an Urban Fantasy, Nowhere to Run is a horror/suspense from Leisure, Toybox is a horror from Leisure, Succubi like it hot is part of a Paranormal Romance series, and Through the Veil is a Paranormal Romance type.
Succubi Like It Hot
Succubi like it hot is a Paranormal romantish type sounding deal. Wasn't sure how much I would care for it as the plot doesn't completely sound like me. However, the writing style spoke to me as I browsed through it. It's apparently the second in a series.
With a hot new figure, her dream job as an archaeologist, and two gorgeous boyfriends to scratch her seductive Itch an angel and a vampire Jackie Brighton is totally getting the hang of life as a succubus. Then she accidentally knocks the pizza guy unconscious with her touch. Great she's cursed. After striking a deal to get the curse lifted by a crafty demon, Jackie and her best friend Remy take a road trip to deliver a cryptic message to the nation's oldest succubus. Unfortunately, neither of her jealous lovers is talking to Jackie right now, and due to the curse, she's desperate to get her Itch scratched very soon. Their journey gets weirder with every mile demonic possession, a charming stalker, a cryptic warning and when they get to New Orleans, Jackie discovers a dangerous catch to her supernatural bargain. Someone wants her dead again. Can a brainy vixen in a miniskirt outsmart the forces of evil?
Toybox
The picture doesn't do this one justice - the cover is seriously creepy and awesome. It's like a horror painting come to life. It's a collection of short stories by the author. I have plenty of anthologies to read already, but what's one more, especially with a killer cover like this one?
Open Toybox, and the stories tumble out:
A quiet little girl whose horrible secret bursts forth at a Halloween party.
A doll made of corn that hides a nasty surprise.
The thing that lives under your bed.
Christmas that never ends.
They're all here and more in Toybox: 18 of the best horror stories by Stoker-nominee Al Sarrantonio. In Toybox meet a man who collects legs and another who collects monsters. A boy who runs on electricity. There's a depraved party celebrating the last vampire, a town with one too many rules. And the ultimate Halloween House. So open Toybox, if you dare: but not before you oil its hinges, cover your eyes, and turn the lights down low...
Nowhere to Run
Seems like a suspense type from Leisure, thought I'd give a try, but not sure how much I'll like this one yet.
Angel Souls and Devil Hearts
The second in a series
The Shadow Saga Continues...As the vampires of the world prepare to do battle with humanity, and each other, the possibility of a new life for, those that remain is what spurs them on in their bloody quest...
Baby Moll
Again, I just pick up any Hard Case crime book I run into
Six years after quitting the Florida Mob, Peter Mallory is about to be dragged back in.
Stalked by a vicious killer and losing his hold on power, Mallory’s old boss needs help – the kind of help only a man like Mallory can provide. But behind the walls of the fenced-in island compound he once called home, Mallory is about to find himself surrounded by beautiful women, by temptation, and by danger – and one wrong step could trigger a bloodbath…
Through The Veil
A Paranormal Romance, and the synopsis intrigued me. The first in a series.
Found wandering in a field as a child, Lee Ross was given a name by the state and put in a foster home—without anyone realizing she wasn’t entirely human. All her life, she’s tried to forget the odd dreams that have plagued her, of monsters creeping through the night and a man fighting demons by her side. But the bruises she wakes with are all too real to ignore… Then the man from her dreams appears—in the flesh. His name is Kalen—and he insists that her destiny lies in his world, the world of her dreams. To save their people, he must convince Lee to give up everything she knows, follow her heart, and cross over into the Under Realm—even though once she does, she’ll never be able to return…
