Tune-In Tuesdays July 17

A Weekly Meme from GReads
Since music is one of the main things in my life outside of books, I jumped on the bandwagon for this fun meme.

What were you listening to when you were a teenager? We all come from different decades, with different tunes.  For this month, please pick some of your favorite songs that bring you back to those glorious teenage years!

The Year: 1997. When I was 17, I was still walking around and listening to my portable CD player and jamming to the same in my room with a cheap little stereo. Here are the 1997 radio hits and such I could be caught rocking (or humming, or tapping, or singing in the shower) to:

Jewel: You were meant for me

I'm not a huge Jewel fan but she has some select songs I do adore, including this one. My favorite from her now is Foolish Games. You were meant for me was one of the biggest radio hits of the year 1997:

Shawn Colvin: Sunny Came Home

This song is surreal and almost like a bizarre story with a bizarre bend. Like the vocals and the soft, subtle power of this one.

Celine Dion: All By Myself

My best friend Melissa bought me her CD featuring this song and others, which I listened to often. My favorite is Seduces Me from her then (and now), but All By Myself was also pretty good. Sometimes a little melodramatic with the lyrics and tone but still enjoyable when I was in the mood for this sort of music style.

Elton John: Something about the way you look tonight

I likely wasn't crazy about it then - I've only really become an Elton John fan the past few years or so, but apparently this was the year this amazing song was released.
