Booking Through Thursdays: Sept 13

A Weekly Meme Hosted by Booking Through Thursday

How do you organize/store your books? Do you go through them often? Or
do you pretty much just shelve them and then leave them alone until
you need them?

Right now all my books are housed in what I call "The book room." In actuality is a large closet. When we moved in it used to be a converted computer room. My bedroom has a large closet that takes up one wall, a bathroom, and then this "room". The previous owner put up storage racks on one end, on one wall  had a computer set up with internet, etc. It originally was a washer and dryer room for the house.

Anyway, I have taken out all the shelving on the wall except one. I moved in my older bookshelves on one wall, and then piled romances at the top shelve, making "shelves out of books for that genre." On the other wall is another bookcase. I then have a small two level bookcase holding movie collectables, and above that are some pictures. On this wall above the pictures is a shelf, and that's where I pile the dramas on top of each other. I have a small little shelf that sits in the corner toward the floor for young adults, and a kitchen stand with three shelves that can't hold much in the corner, for some smaller genres.

Yes, it's crowded. When I get some money I want my personal library to be joined with the living room. All the plans are done but we have to finish building another room first.

All the books are categorized by genre, then loosely alphabetically. I say loosely because I don't categorize strictly. Some shelves have books on top of each other (hate that), while others have the luxury of having them sit right.

I have a stack on my nightstand in the bedroom for borrowed books.
