Summer Jul 1-7 Read-a-Thon: Post 1

For the Summer Lovin’ Read-a-Thon - Post 1

Hosted by Reviewing Wonderland

To start off the fun for the Read-a-thon this week, Reviewing Wonderland have started some intro and 'getting to know you' type questions. Be sure to check out their responses here. I already answered some getting to know you type posts with the last read-a-thon I participated in, but I'm an addict to memes and questionnaires, and there's not much in the world more fun to discuss than reading and books, so here I am again. I don't photograph well but thought it a good idea to find some sort of bookish picture of me (surprisingly hard to do!), so I settled with a beach picture from a few years ago since it's summer.

1.) Where are you blogging from?

Lakeland, Florida. Right dab in the center of Tampa and Orlando (basically). Drive one hour away and I can go to Disney, drive the other hour and I can go to Ybor. I never go to neither. It loses it's appeal living here. Lakeland is a quiet town at night with a short night life. This was irritating as a teenager but it's not as bad now as an adult. The town is much larger than when I was a kid with just the right amount of people. Almost 100,000, so not bare but not too large. We have some of the greatest theatres - one of the last old fashioned drive-ins, an old style theatre where Elvis Prestley signed the wall called the Polk Theatre, a modern theatre (Cobb), an AMC modern, both with mini IMaxes, and a Mugs N Movies restaurant style theatre. We also have a bookstore full retail (Books a Million) and the Book Bazaar, a used bookstore that's been in business over 30 years.

2.) Why did you start blogging/reading?

I've loved reading since I could remember. In my 20's I wanted to jump on the blogging bandwagon and share my love of books with others.

3.) What is your favorite genre?

Urban Fantasy, definitely. But it's followed by Mystery, Horror, and about every other genre out there.
Goals for Summer Lovin’ Read-a-Thon
I still have the list to read/finish from the last read-a-thon, and several books going at once that I want to finish. No specific plans, just reading, reading, and more reading. Most of my reading for the week will be on July 3 night, July 4, and this upcoming weekend up until the 6th.

  • I plan to finish at least four books.
  • Participate in the Daily Challenges
  • Pop in for the Twitter party (those can be such fun)
  • Participate in at least one challenge
