The Sunday Salon was originally started in 2008, but over the years has grown too large to accept new members. They are now a facebook group and open to all. Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with
people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're
seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're
all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals
as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare
their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....
Past Week - Personal Stuff
So far the walk-a-thon is going okay. The pedometer isn't that reliable though so I haven't impressed myself much. It's been a decent week, son and I went and got a new game at the game store Friday night and we spent most of the weekend with him glued to the X-box. Went with Nathan to my aunts for the Super Bowl - not a football fan at all but we had fun with the commercials, appetizers, and food.
Watching the remake of Flowers in the Attic now - it's still in the first half and so far it's awkward and awful, yikes on the acting! I grew up watching the original all the time so that may be it, seeing it differently with different cast. As an adult I don't think the original movie was good either, and this one is supposed to stick more faithfully to the book, but so far not impressed at all. Usually I like Ellen Burstyn a lot but not for this role, and the mother as Heather Graham is just terrible. Directing isn't impressive either.
Reading Updates
