The Sunday Salon was originally started in 2008, but over the years has grown too large to accept new members. They are now a facebook group and open to all. Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with
people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're
seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're
all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals
as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare
their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....
Past Week - Personal Stuff
This weekend my son and I have been doing a lot of ordering out, no grocery shopping and no cooking. An unhealthy and slightly pricey weekend, but it was that mood. Friday night we had fast food burgers, Saturday Hungry Howies subs, and today Chinese food. Go us...?
I've also been participating in the reviewathon (see more at bottom of post) from 2/27 - 2/28
Tuesday night went out with two of my best friends for a late birthday celebration. We went to my favorite Italian restaurant, Il Forno in Lakeland, to the beauty supply store where I got a new towel head wrap and eyeshadow, and of course the bookstore, when I got the Cassandra Clare boxset. Amber also gifted me a vintage Superman comic. See those pictures in Mailbox Monday post.
Otherwise no other outings this week other than the standard work stuff. Oh, besides getting a dental deep cleaning treatment on Thursday, but that's not what I'd call a FUN thing.
I'm still in cleaning and organizing mode around the house with a long way left to go. I've fallen in love with the $2.00 box (2 per box) of large ziplock organizers that you can put a ridiculous amount of stuff in and store in the closet for space. They've especially been helpful storing stuffed animals and tote bags, things you need room for but don't want to make a lot of room for. My goldfish consistently swims and lays upside down and sideways before righting himself up again with food. I keep thinking he's dead or dying for months now. Not healthy but I can't figure out how else to help him other than the stuff I've already been doing with the water, cleaning, filter, etc.
I received the order Saturday of my friend's birthday present and the book cake pan I've finally broken down and ordered. Bookish birthday cakes for others this year? Absolutely. Googling images, there is so much you can do with these theme wise, not just for book lovers. Perfect for baby showers, graduations, times of life, religious messages, kids, I'm excited. Now I just need to actually decorate cakes decently well.
Sadly I accidentally go the ridiculously huge one of the three mix. Not sure how I missed that detail when ordered *facepalm*

Sunday night's episode of Walking Dead was decent, waiting for it to take off again. Nothing too exciting since it's return, although of course I love the show still. Have one episode left to catch up on Bitten, which finally returned. I think Once Upon a time is finally coming back tonight? The Flash, Supernatural and Grimm are on breaks (annoying). Arrow was a decent episode, has been the best season so far. Gage and I watched some Ultimate Spiderman this weekend, cute animated show, and I've started watching Rescue Me, which is a good humor drama. Few weeks behind on Gotham since I watch it with someone and we haven't been able to get together.
Reading Updates
Read This Week
Yes, just one book, but to be fair I've been reading other books too - just didn't finish them yet. I'm almost done with Lonesome Dove, only a little over 100 pages left. It's at least a 940 page book!
