The Sunday Salon was originally started in 2008, but over the years has grown too large to accept new members. They are now a facebook group and open to all. Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with
people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're
seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're
all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals
as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare
their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....
Past Week - Personal Stuff
As always, been a regular week at work, and a good week outside of it. Went out Thursday night with one friend to eat at Chili's - good service and good food this time around - and then hung out for a few hours. Friday went out with another friend to the outside mall area. I made sure to not tempt myself and stayed out of the bookstore.
Found out irritating information from my dental insurance which pisses everyone off. Looks like I have to pay more out of pocket than I figured. That payment has to be made Thursday and will pretty much drain me. Now if only my tax refund check will actually get here - it's pretty late so I'm getting worried. Went to check the IRS site but they're system is down (of course) on checking refund status. It's not a huge amount but everything counts, right?
What I'm Making - Since I enjoy the sausage for convenience and taste, but hate the price and am trying to get away from processed foods, I decided to try making some of my own. Bought a bag of 12 southern-style biscuits, which are delicious and a lot less mess than making my own. For some reason I suck at making biscuits homemade, no matter how much I practice. Didn't have ramekins for the eggs so used a muffin tin, which worked well. Also put on a small slice of monterey-jack cheese and the sausage rounds. 12 for a little over five dollars in cost, compared to the store brand here charging 5.45 for 4. Big savings and they turned out larger than the store. Took one over to my dad this morning and he raved on it. So...a win :)
I've still been procrastinating on algebra study for my college exam test (sigh)

Two isn't the most impressive number but both books were enjoyable. Juggling several books at once right now so no telling what I'll have finished this upcoming week.

I'm doing Mr. Hands as a buddy read with Horror Aficiandos group on Goodreads. I've had it on my bookshelf for years, left over from the Leisure book club back when that existed. Finally I'm starting the last book in the Mortal Instruments series. Still Waters I got as an ARC from Penguin reading program, looks great.
