The Sunday Salon was originally started in 2008, but over the years has grown too large to accept new members. They are now a facebook group and open to all.
What's Going On This Week...
I worked all week this week - ugh. So used to taking half days for summer vacation. That resumes again this upcoming week. I do NOT want to go to bed tonight and start Monday work tomorrow.
Friday night I went out with my friend Susan to a place I haven't been before, Wild Bill Wings or something, which turned out nice. We sat outside by a large fan and had strawberry daquiries, fried mushrooms and nachos. After that we went and bought me a new bathing suit (I HATE wearing them but they're necessary evils...) and went night time swimming in her ridiculously large swimming pool. Seriously, this thing is huge and seem about 12 feet deep. She even still has an old diving board attached to it.
I've been wanting to try Ruby Tuesdays forever, so my mom and I went and ate lunch together there. Good food and a killer mini salad bar. We bought more wood for the bookshelf project, and today I went with my mom, brother, son, and dad for a few hours of bowling at the local bowling alley.
A good week overall - no bad stuff or disasters, so I don't date complain.
What I'm Watching
Nothing much, haven't been watching TV that often other than messing with Roku free steaming channels to find something that rivals Rainymood.com for the TV. No win there. I tried the three offered 'serenity' channels but they're not the same. I can listen to Rainymood on youtube but it's an older seeming recording. Better than nothing.
What I'm Making
As I've been doing the last two weeks, we're still working on the bookshelves for the living room. I have been lazy and haven't moved the closets out for the two bedrooms (still.) But we did get one major bookshelf up. We also hated the previous stain and screws we bought; the stain made the wood look like cheap particle boards. Now we went with darker and redder and I love it.
The Urban Fantasy shelf is halfway up. I am not 3/4 done with the project - dare I hope to be completely finished by the end of this week?
....Nah.
My mom, who paints well (I'm envious) has offered to paint a picture for me for the new library living room. I can't wait. I want to choose a night scene with a moon but of course when I look for the right one, I can't find it yet to inspire her. You'd think something like that would be easy. I was going to go for a ship/ocean, night scene but I already have a boat picture above the couch so don't want to appear too redundant. If only I had more wall space for all these pictures I want to hang in the living room. I had to take several down from the book room and won't be able to relocate them all.
First world problems!
Impressive Bookish-World I Need to Visit
Leakey’s Second Hand Bookshop in Scotland
Going to Scotland alone would be cool enough, but this bookstore would need to be thrown into the deal:

What I've Read This Week
I haven't read many on my planned list and I haven't been reading much still, again the summer schedule slows me down as it does every year.

Finally finished Middlesex, rated it 3 1/2 stars, review will be coming soon.
Trouble is a Friend of Mine was an ARC I received for a YA humor mystery - review is liked at the bottom. Cute book!
I picked up two harlequins for easy reading this week. I have done horribly keeping up with them this year, and since they are right there next to the kitchen island during the move, they keep reminding me to read them. Both were surprisingly good for Harlequins.

I have to start three of these books. I have started Batman: The Long Halloween and read the first three editions out of 12. Sean Gibson is a new author to me from Goodreads, KJ Charles is a favorite of mine who just released this book within the last month, and A Curious Tale of the In-Between is a children's ARC from Netgalley.
